FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS

By eighteen years, The Center for Computing and Communication for the Construction of Knowledge, C5, Department of Computer Science, University of Chile, organize TISE 2013, The XVIII International Conference on Informatics and Education.

In this version, have joined this organization the Faculdade de Informática da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) and the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Informática na Educação (PPGIE) da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), both from Porto Alegre, Brazil.

TISE is a research-based Conference that is thought to establish a rich space for presenting, exchanging and spreading research experiences in Informatics and Education and Human-Computer Interaction in learning and cognition. TISE has a multidisciplinary character. Disciplines such as software engineering, education, human-computer interaction, educational psychology, instructional design, graphic design, and telecommunication, come together for sharing knowledge and research to improve teaching and learning practice at the school and university level.

In special, we focus on the areas of new trends in learning with technology, eLearning and e-Inclusion, human-computer interaction, design, development, evaluation, uses and applications of internet for education, and educational software.

Papers that involve the presentation of results in research and development on the following areas and lines of work (but not limited to them) are in the scope of the TISE Conference:

  • 1. New trends in learning with digital technology (m-learning,1:1 learning, m-gaming, technology-enhanced learning, Web 2.0 educational resources and tools, game-based learning, t-learning, social networks, augmented reality, virtual reality, learning analytics, massively open online courses (MOOCs), personal learning environments, collective intelligence, the internet of things, natural user interfaces (NUIs), wearable technology, smart city learning, among others).
  • 2. Human-computer interaction (user-interface design, models, user-centered design, user experience (UX), implementation, usability, multi-device environments, HCI applications in different fields, HCI and learning and cognition, HCI for people with special needs, HCI in virtual environments, HCI and the senses, Interacting with audio and haptic devices, I/O devices (displays, tablets, cell phones), HCI experiences, HCI and the brain).
  • 3. eLearning and e-Inclusion (design, platforms and tools, technical models, projects and experiences, impact evaluation and effectiveness).
  • 4. IInternet and software for education (models, design, development and evaluation tools, products, uses, applications, learning methodologies and experiences with Internet, impact evaluation and effectiveness).

PAPER AND SOFTWARE SUBMISSION

Papers submitted to the "Full Papers" category should consider empiric or theoretical research, substantial advances of ongoing research, state-of-the-art analysis and discussion, analysis of relevant research features, case analysis, in depth research experiences, methodologies, innovation cases, and other products that feed the academic discussion around areas, strands and lines of TISE. All papers in this category must meet the submission rules of the Conference posted in the web page. Papers can be written in English, Portuguese, or Spanish. Authors interested in a further publication of the best papers should submit their paper in English.

Papers submitted to the "Educational Software" category should describe and/or analyze software, demos and web sites already implemented and evaluated. All papers in this category must meet the submission rules of the Conference posted in the web page. Authors must provide the facilities for reviewers to evaluate the software products developed.

Papers submitted to the "Posters" category should describe and/or analyze ongoing research work, innovative studies, in progress speculation studies, and studies with preliminary results. All papers in this category must meet the submission rules of the Conference posted in the web page.

This year TISE 2013 will edit a CD with ISBN that will comprise all the accepted papers, and that will be provided to the participants during the Conference. A further publication in English including the best papers in a book edited format by a prestigious editorial is being considered. In parallel a minor group of best papers will be considered for a probable special edition in the prestigious international journal. More information will be provided the posterior Call for Papers.

All contributions should be of uploaded by following the official guidelines for the ACM Proceedings Format available in: Template ACM
